Our founder and President, Denise A. Furubotten, has been in practice for more than 25 years and has represented thousands of clients throughout the State of California. She is admitted to practice in both State and Federal Courts and is currently a member of several regional Bar Associations. She is respected by the Courts and colleagues alike and is routinely appointed by the courts to represent children and adults in need of court-appointed services.
Ms. Furubotten is a California native, has been married for 27 years and is the mother to four children. She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from UCLA and her J.D. degree from Western State University College of Law where she won the American Jurisprudence Award for Legal Writing. Ms. Furubotten is the co-author of Effectively Managing a Solo Practice: Leading Lawyers on Balancing the Challenges and Rewards of Single-Partner Firms (Inside the Minds).
During Ms. Furubotten’s career she has practiced a variety of different areas of law, including personal injury, civil and business litigation, criminal, parole revocation, trust and estate planning and litigation, conservatorships, guardianships and family law. Her broad legal knowledge and familiarity with such a large number of legal issues gives her a unique ability to analyze the issues surrounding family law with a more practical, global and creative perspective than most family law practitioners.
Ms. Furubotten eventually limited her practice strictly to family law and estate planning to provide her clients with the level of skill and knowledge that complex issues such as divorce, separation, paternity, property division, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, domestic violence, modifications of orders, contested hearings and trials for family law and estate planning clients requires.
Ms. Furubotten has handled the simplest of uncontested divorce cases to the most complex multi-million dollar estates and custody issues requiring the use of experts. She has extensive courtroom and trial experience and is a passionate advocate for her clients in and out of the courtroom. Her experience provides her with particular insight into the minds of judges, opposing counsel and the parties involved with her cases, all of which she uses to the benefit of her clients.
